SAROST – The Granite Variations releases 18th September

There’s good and then there’s OFF THE SCALE Bloody Marvellous – The SAROST TRIO last night at Fringe Jazz at The Bristol Music Club.

Those were the words of the legendary Jon Taylor, writing the morning after Mark Sanders, Paul Rogers and Larry Stabbins took to the stage to play two back-to-back sets during their six day tour of the South of England last December.

Those sets, recorded by Richard Pearson at Fringe Jazz at The Bristol Music Club on the 10th December 2025, will be released on CD and Digital 18th September 2026 by Ogun Records.

Mark Sanders Percussion
Paul Rogers  7 string Bass
Larry Stabbins Alto Saxophone and G (Sol) Clarinet

First Set: Biotite
Second Set: Tourmaline

“Centipede veteran Larry Stabbins also honoured Keith’s memory as he announced SAROST (pictured below), his trio with Paul Rogers and Mark Sanders, on stage with the greeting “Welcome to the old school!” The improvised music threesome then reaped the benefit of decades of experience in a seamless flow of musical ideas exchanged, shared and evolved in a perfect balance. Storms were whipped up and clarities discovered, looping riffs eventually devolved, anthemic melodies rose out of formless haziness … it was a joy to behold.”
